Do Search Marketing Everywhere - even in Kansas
by: Anne Haynes
Well, it’s almost been a month since my last post. Many changes have happened and I feel the need to express how much time life takes during change.
Here we go; I moved from San Diego, CA to Prairie Village, Kansas. I made this move for all the right reasons: family, money and the pursuit for change.
I lived in the Bay Area where Yahoo! and Google live. I experienced the dot.com and the dot.bomb and thrived. I moved to San Diego and worked for SEOINC, Kintera and Interactivate and now I live in Kansas and work for Plattform Advertising. There are a few fundamental reasons why I chose Plattform; there are no billable hours; the company has made its mark generating leads and executing revenue sharing; the company promotes creativity and collaboration. Another bonus at Plattform is the Tuesday candy wagon that moves around the building. For those current and previous Kintera employees that read my blog, it’s not a pudding cart, but a candy wagon works.
Bottom-line, I love what I do and why not do it in Kansas with my family than do it in San Diego or San Jose.
The move was intense, but I was comforted with my cousin Stacey and her friend Pam who flew out to help me move. After the movers came and loaded my belongings from storage and my one bedroom flat; Stacey, Pam and I stayed at the Hotel Del in Coronado for one night of fun and the next day we had sun.
The first day we traveled for 8 hours, I did most of the driving that day getting us out of California. Stacey was the navigator and she was always referencing the map and keeping the ship on course. After sunset, Stacey took over and I was the copilot. It is not easy being the first officer in the evening. Because we were always referencing the map, I feel as if we needed a dome light always on: switch on – switch off. Pam and I began to wonder if we needed to pull over and buy a “map light”.
Stacey landed us safely at the Embassy Suites outside Texas. The three of us had a great night sleep and were well rested for our journey.
The next morning we woke up and launched on our 18 hour adventure. Stacey did the 5AM start, Pam did the mid-day shift and I drove us home.
The experiences were wonderful and if you are interested in seeing some photos, go to Anne’s - Myspace
