Daren Froeschle from Warehouse 1 was kind enough to give me an awesome recommendation on Linkedin this month. I was an early adopter to Linkedin, so it took me a long time to acquire my connections and specifically my recommendations. When I first created my account on Linkedin, I rushed to connect with colleagues I’ve worked with within my career, but my goal was to have at least one person from each place I had worked, give me a recommendation. A good portion of my career was in the dot.com era, validation of a company’s existence was a big deal for me. As I built my legitimate recommendations I noticed along the way people joining Linkedin and receiving 500+ connections almost overnight with very little attention to recommendations. Let’s face it, it’s easy to use a rolodex, but how easy is it to receive a recommendation? In my experience I haven’t had a hard time with recommendations because I’m passionate about any position I hold; if I’m a food server, I will be the best food server, if I’m a custom framer I will be the best framer, if I’m an internet marketer I will best internet marketer.
As I continue my journey with Linkedin, I pay more attention to the connections to recommendations ratio. It’s not about having 500+ connections; it’s about making a difference and doing your very best!
Following is the recommendation from Daren Froeschle:
Principal Consultant
Integrated Web Technologies Group
“Anne knows her search engine marketing. Her years of experience in SEO and paid search marketing and her commitment to continuous learning in an ever-changing industry are evident throughout her work with my team. It’s refreshing that Anne’s primary focus is on improving our ROI; page rankings and site traffic are means to that end, not ends in themselves. If you want to improve your website and internet marketing ROI, hire Anne.” August 15, 2011
