Downside to Social Media and Speed Digging

I’m guilty for registering for several social and business networking sites and testing out the Linkedin address book integration feature. Now I have some unhappy friends.

Friends, I’m sorry for adding you so quickly, but I clicked and everything just happened. And now I sit lonely hoping you will still be my friend.

Tonight, I’ve been working with Digg, Naymz, Trillian, Yahoo! Messenger, Linkedin, and myspace. First, I can’t stand the password retrieval for Yahoo! it bugs me and frustrates me, so I clog their servers with new accounts. Another pain is Google! I have a couple of clients and I work within their Adwords accounts. If I want to isolate my activity I have to create a new gmail account just for the client. The userid/password integration features within the ad networks needs some work.

But one service that really got to me tonight was Digg. I think I’m over the digg thing! The edit your profile picture functionality really needs some serious work! Let’s face it the people with time to digg all day are freaky speed diggers or is there an auto digger I don’t know about? I have a feeling someone has an underground service that pays people to sit around and digg. And I might know of one….

I’m tired, I lost my entire friends network with social media and it’s going to snow tomorrow!

Joe - The Movie Maker

Between the I-Caught series where ABC scraped content from YouTube, to the recent study by AccuStream iMedia Research, it’s true – Any Joe can be a Movie Maker!

My Personal Widget by Spock

I love widgets! And while I don’t like wasting time in the social networking space, I find myself at myspace, linkedin, facebook and other places often. I just received to invitations today for Spock. Dan Sundgren from Efficient Frontier sent me an invite, so if he’s on a services, I’ll sign up!

Cloverfield Internet Buzz and 41 Million in 2 Days

Who says internet buzz doesn’t bring the movie goers? The amazing Cloverfield, in one weekend, took in 41 Million! 27 Dresses came in next, but come on - the marketing for 27 dresses was three times the marketing efforts of Cloverfield. The viral aspects of the internet will always return a bigger ROI - vertical doesn’t matter!

Cloverfield Kansas City Sneek Preview!

Tonight I was privileged to see Cloverfield at a pre-screening in Kansas City. I’ve never been to Screenland at Washington and 17th, but it’s a pretty awesome spot to see a movie in such comfort.

While the world is still waiting for the official release date of 01.18.08, I watched it on 01.14.08 and it’s pretty amazing!

I’d like to thank my friends, family, JJ Adams, Andy Schiller, the producers and AMC Corporate for allowing me to have this sneak peak into the movie I’ve been blogging about for 6 months.

Two lines everyone will totally enjoy: Hud says, “Something Terrible” and then says, “Something not so terrible”. I think I have my wording correct, but the Paramount Police were on site to prevent any recordings.

Late to Live with Jay

Jay has been adding some funny comments to my recent post, “I submit the following evidence of Anne’s communication skills while driving. This sequence of texts covers approximately 17 minutes of real life “search” on her part and frantic filling on-air, for me. The numbers are the cross streets as she was coming South, which gave me real hope…she was making progress.”

Live With Jay - Oh I Was Lost!

Today I was interviewed by Jay Liebenguth on Live with Jay Hot Talk 1510 AM. It was an interesting and great experience! First, I’m new to the Kansas area and still, after a year of living in the area, I was lost in the strip malls. My destination was Union Broadcasting and I found it, but it took time!

As I watched the time from my car clock and on my cell phone it became clear that I wasn’t going to be on-time for the 3:30 PM show. I understand radio programming from my KSJS 95.3 AM days at San Jose State University. If you’re ever going to be late for anything, never be late for radio or television spots. Even though I text messaged Jay from my cell phone on the way to the station, it wasn’t cool!

After breaking many traffic laws, I arrived at Union Broadcasting at 3:35 PM. Jay went to commercial and I walked into the studio. We had a few words and he was back on the air. We started talking about my skills to surf the web and not navigate the Kansas streets. It was natural.

Before the show I was head high in paid search management campaigns, so I had little preparation time and well, we just started talking about reputation management. It’s easy to talk about reputation management because I’ve been successful in fixing several clients’ reputations in the search results.

The conversation was great and soon enough after 15 minutes,Jay brought in Mark Stevens via phone; author of GOD IS A SALESMAN: Learn from the Master. Mark had a great story about playing tennis, going into heart surgery and writing his book. Honestly, I couldn’t compete with that guest!

But overall, it was an amazing day in my life and I’m thankful for Webster Jorgenson text messaging me throughout the interview! Webster has started the Kansas City SEO . ORG Club to bring all the search marketers in the local area out to join.

Social Media InJoins – What’s Going On?

I check my email daily, but in the last week things are different. On top of all my male driven spam emails (I’m a female), I’ve found several Plaxo connections invites. I’m sure I’ve missed some breaking news, but seriously, are we all chasing the social media status on the web? Just like “keeping up with the Jone’s” but now in a virtual world.

My main social media sites have been linkedin and myspace, but Plaxo and Facebook are taking off, so I keep up with the social media InJoins or Internet Joins (InJoins) and roll with the people I’ve known in my career.

I understand the Facebook inclusions because of the 2008 elections, but Plaxo. I placed this service off to just another tool until I logged into it tonight and found 18 requests for connection. In an effort to confirm that I’m not clueless, I did some Google searches and found - I’m a little clueless:

Facebook Welcomes Back Scoble

Social network site Plaxo considers sale –reports

Facebook Invited To Join The DataPortability Work Group

I remembered my Facebook password from 4 years ago – it felt good! But what is all this hype about? Consolidation, consolidation, consolidation = Mergers and Acquisitions! The social media gurus out there can’t expect everyone to be everything on every service! I’m tired of my account information sitting on a spreadsheet – I’m ready for the “Protected Cloud”; this one place where all my InJoins information details are stored and it forces me to change my password across a series of accounts in intervals. Google be my Cloud – ok or maybe Amazon.

Things are changing and shifting and it looks like the shaking of hands still needs to happen within the social media industry or maybe just in search? I want all the benefits from choosing my topic of choice before I search the web. I don’t want to go broad and filter through a bunch of invalid data. I also, don’t want a search engine to tell me what I want to search on based on the check boxes I select or my email inbox.

If I want to build a fence in my backyard, I’d rather go to the “home improvement search engine” than go to homedepot.com.

Are you sick of logging into several services? Please tell me more!

Happy New Year PARIS
